I used to wonder how people didn't think they had time to eat breakfast in the morning. And then I had a baby and instantly became one of those people.

Not that breakfast has become any less of a priority for me, in fact I think it's more important than ever that I am having a good meal to start the day. The problem is that I only have a tiny window of opportunity to make breakfast before the ticking time bomb that is my sleeping baby needs me. And I mean NEEDS. Baby girl is like her mama...she wakes up hangry! A few smiles, a little good morning and then boom. Girl needs milk, stat! Problem is, I'm usually tired from being up with her in the night (wake-ups that are becoming few and far between, yay Sadie!) so I don't tend to wake up until she does.

So what now happens is that I get up, throw a list of easy ingredients into the blender, get her and then I can sip away on my delicious peanut butter banana and chocolate breakfast smoothie while she has her breakfast. Win win. Plus this avoids the awkward eating granola with one hand and inevitably spilling it all over her. Even better.

I am usually all about my smoothies being green and full of tropical fruit - the coconut green version, the tropical version and the pina colada version - but this smoothie is creamy and decadent while at the same time totally healthy and filling! Using frozen banana makes the smoothie irresistibly thick and creamy - it also helps with the keeping you full factor along with the addition of rolled oats. The Greek yoghurt adds protein and the peanut butter and cocoa powder make it just delicious! I use almond milk - I just love the taste - but you can use whatever milk you prefer.

This peanut butter banana and chocolate breakfast smoothie is not only perfect for breakfast lovers, it's so easy to drink that even people who wouldn't normally be into breakfast will love it. And I don't think there would be a kid who would turn their nose up at a chocolate drink for breakfast either! And don't limit yourself to having this first thing - it also makes a perfect snack for anytime of the day, or a guilt free dessert!

Drink this peanut butter banana and chocolate breakfast smoothie all day!
