Life with Macey - 4 months

Published: Jan 13, 2020 · Modified: Jun 5, 2021 by Laura · This post may contain affiliate links.

Macey Moo is 4 months old!

I remember with Sadie feeling like I absolutely loved the newborn stage and not wanting it to be over but then realising once we got to about 4 months that I suddenly had a little person rather than just a little baby who didn't really do anything cool. The same thing has happened! I love the newborn snuggles so much but this month Macey has really started to show us her personality and it is SO exciting!

    What's Macey doing?

Macey is so smiley! She gives the best cheeky smiles and when she does, her whole entire face lights up. I have a feeling this sweet girl is going to cause us some trouble! After giggling way back in November, she has barely done it since, sticking with the smiles and the occasional laugh. She has started babbling a bit and has also started sucking her hands and sticking out her tongue a lot. I'm really hoping she doesn't already have teeth coming through!

She also has started really holding onto toys and inspecting them. She loves playing under her play gym with lots of things to look at and is really happy sitting in her bouncer now too - it's such a relief being able to put her in it for longer than 5 minutes and knowing that she won't just immediately get the hiccups and spew!!

Speaking of, she is still the spilliest baby out! But she is always so happy, it just means lots of washing around here.

She is still sleeping really well overnight and during the day - I have been really intentional about watching her for sleepy cues and getting her to bed in that very small window of time between not tired enough and over tired (about a 5 minute window!) but it is paying off! She is currently sleeping about 11 hours overnight which I can't believe - but I know how quickly that can change, especially once they start rolling and have to be unswaddled, so I'm under no illusion that this will last!

We still have Macey sleeping in the bassinet in our room at night but she is sleeping in the cot in her room for her day sleeps - I'm planning on going with a very slow approach to the transition to sleeping in her cot full time!

This month has been all about getting ready for her first Christmas! She has a stocking, we have taken a ton of Christmas photos and have just generally been super excited and thankful to have this baby here to celebrate Christmas with us this year!
