A homemade body scrub that comes together in minutes - it smells amazing and makes a great DIY present!
But even though this DIY coffee body scrub is not something I would keep in the pantry, it's definitely something I would buy. Plus all the ingredients come from my pantry, so I figure it counts as part of the homemade challenge.
I first made this at Christmas for our mums. It smelt and looked SO good that I had to make a jar for myself. I also made little labels for the jars to add to the cute factor. I can't help it!
I found the recipe here and just adjusted it slightly. I used coconut oil instead of olive oil and added a little vanilla extract because it smells good!
It seriously takes 5 minutes, you can put it in any jar and it is a FABULOUS body scrub. It does leave coffee grounds all through the bottom of your shower, but it's a small price to pay for a delicious smelling & totally invigorating time!
If you're making this as a gift I would strongly suggest doubling the recipe and keeping a jar for yourself...I promise, you won't be able to part with this!
DIY Coffee Body Scrub

- ½ cup granulated sugar

- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Instructions
- Measure all ingredients into a bowl. Mix together until incorporated. Spoon into a jar and use ALLLL over your body for an invigorating body scrub!
Hi Laura
Could you use coffee grounds from making coffee as i never seem to know what to do with it all and throwing it in the bin always makes me sad?
I don't have a garden, so cannot put the coffee grounds in a compost bin or put them on anything in the garden.
Love your recipes 🙂
Hi Carole, yes you can, I would just make sure to spread the used grounds on a tray to dry out before mixing up, otherwise the scrub tends to get quite gluggy!
I just made this thank you! I want to eat it it smells so good 🙂 my mixture is quite a smooth paste. I wanted it a bit more gritty. Do you know why it would be so smooth? I wondered if coconut oil was too hot when I mixed it in and melted the sugar slightly. Or is there a specific sugar I should use? Thanks
That could be it - I just used regular white sugar but you could use raw sugar if you wanted it a bit grittier. It might depend on the grind of the coffee too - use a coarser grind like plunger coffee rather than espresso! Laura
How long should I leave it on for and how many times a week should I do this??
Totally up to you!
