Let's summarise this whole post in 1 sentence.

Frozen bananas + favourite blendy kitchen appliance of choice = actual soft servy HEALTHY banana ice cream. Yaaassss!!!

This. Stuff. Is. AWESOME. Just bananas. No sugar. No dairy. No anything other than bananas.

Frozen bananas are all that it takes to make this creamy but healthy banana ice cream!

Sorry if you don't like bananas.

I've been on the frozen banana in my smoothie bandwagon for quite a while now - for the record, do it. Smooth, creamy goodness right thur. But the banana on it's own? Whole new level of delicious.

I feel like I'm cheating a bit, given that this isn't really a recipe and is more of a life hack but you need to know about this. I know about this now and it would just be plain MEAN to not tell you all.

Plus, this is officially when dessert becomes an everyday occurrence (um, *cough* if it's not already) and guilt free!!

There are 2 options for the freezing of the bananas. You can prepare in advance by peeling & slicing the bananas and freezing them on a baking tray or you can go ahead and throw those borderline brown bananas in the freezer whole and just before making the ice cream pull them out and let them thaw slightly before peeling, slicing and blending.

I've tried both methods and they are both great but I am personally a big fan of the whole bananas in the freezer situation. I always seem to have a bag full and it doesn't require any pre-planning. Win.

Then it's just a matter of throwing the banana into the blender or food processor and mixing it up until it reaches soft serve status. The ice cream can be frozen again after blending it but it will lose that perfect soft texture so I highly recommend eating it all in 1 go!

The banana ice cream is perfect on it's own as a snack for anytime of the day (did someone say breakfast?) ooooor you can do what I did and smother it in chocolate sauce and walnuts and call it a sundae. Even better.

Love this, Laura! Banana 'nice' cream is all the rage right now and I'm loving it...especially since it's stinking hot here in Brisbane right now. It looks so delicious with the chocolate sauce and walnuts added on top, too 😀

It's stinking hot here too! So nice though, I'm trying to store up as much sun as I can at the moment! Haha I guess it kind of defeats the purpose of it being healthy but you know, everything in moderation!
