Fresh, fruity, cold & refreshing banana berry smoothie bowl - the perfect summery way to start the day!

Well hello there summery Saturday morning smoothie bowl, how you doin?

I kind of feel like I've arrived a little late to the smoothie bowl party. Although, in saying that I think the first time I saw one was sometime way back in the depths of winter when I was snuggled up on the couch with my blanket drinking hot chocolate. No one was going to tempt me with a cold smoothie bowl topped with fresh fruit for breakfast at that time of year...gimme my porridge!!! But now that summer is just around the corner...Tuesday!!!...and I can get out of bed without running for the cover of a nice big hoodie, that smoothie bowl is alllll I want every morning.

On a completely unrelated side note, something else we were a little late to the party with was Breaking Bad...anyone else watch that? We were hooked and just finished the series last night...wow. Now we're in need of a new series to watch (read: be obsessed with and watch start to finish in a couple of months)...any suggestions?

But back to the reason you're here....

The concept of a smoothie bowl is simple. Kind of weird when you think about it for too long, but simple. Make smoothie. Put in bowl instead of cup. Top with all sorts of goodies. Eat with a spoon. Wait, what? But trust me, it works.

I have been making my smoothie bowl smoothies quite a lot thicker than I would make a regular smoothie...that way all the extras on top actually sit on top and look pretty instead of sinking to the bottom, and it is much easier to eat/I look less like a child that probably shouldn't be allowed to feed herself. Because seriously...liquid + spoon is not really something anyone is good at.

This is the perfect way to start the day, especially if you are not a big breakfast person. Light enough to manage first thing but full of enough good stuff to keep you going all morning...well, at least until morning tea time!
