So suddenly I have 3 weeks of work left, and only 6 weeks until this baby is due. Wow. The nursery is actually looking like it's expecting a small child to stay and we are starting to get pretty organised now! We've bought a new family car, started buying the things we need and even though being mentally prepared for a baby is something that seems impossible, I am starting to feel pretty ready for this next stage!
Bump size: It has definitely grown a lot in the last 4 weeks and is a very obvious baby bump.
Size of baby: Baby is as big as a muskmelon, whatever that is, or a butternut squash! It's about 45cm long and weighs about 2.1kg.
Weight gain? I'm still sitting inside the 10kg weight gain mark which I'm pretty happy about. I'd say things will change in the next few weeks though!
Boy or girl? No clue. I keep changing my mind but I'm scared to commit to one or the other in case it's wrong! We had our baby shower a couple of weekends ago and everyone guessed...we had 15 votes for a boy and 10 for a girl so it's a pretty mixed bag!
Cravings/aversions: Nothing. Still drinking juice like they're about to stop making it but no real cravings.
General feelings: Physically I am definitely feeling pregnant now - there is no escaping the fact that there is a tiny human being moving around in there! Still feeling really good though. Mentally, I am in that transition period at work where my replacement has started and I'm starting to feel like I will be ready to finish work in a couple of weeks. Setting up the baby room and having the baby shower have definitely helped to start making it feel real too.
Looking forward to: Buying the last few big things we need this weekend in the Easter sales and decorating the nursery. We have all the furniture in there, minus the cot, it's just the finishing touches now!
Missing anything? We went to a concert at a winery over the weekend, and it's safe to say I was definitely missing being able to drink wine!
Movement: Still lots of movement but it's very different now. Less kicking, more pushing up against my belly. And there are some feet that seem to be spending a lot of time digging into my ribs! I can definitely make out body parts through my belly now which is pretty amazing.
What I’ve been loving: All of the amazing and super cute gifts we got at our baby showers (one at home, one at work...so spoilt!) The little onesies are killing me - I love holding them up against my bump - it's hard to believe that an actual baby will be wearing them soon!
What I’ve not been loving: The feet digging into the ribs is definitely not the most comfortable feeling - it seems to happen a lot while I'm driving too which makes for slightly uncomfortable car rides. And I am SO HOT!! I'm glad we're through the heat of summer because it still feels like it's summer to me, so I imagine that if it was actually summer, I would be even more of a sweaty mess than I am now!
Maternity clothes? Yes! I have caved and started wearing maternity shorts and jeans that my friend Tyler lent me and now I'm not sure why I have been putting it off - those things are soooo comfy!! I'm pretty sure I'm going to keep wearing them even when I'm not pregnant!
