Ok, I'm officially ready for winter to take a hike. It's probably only because we are having the wettest winter in ages! The ground is soggy, the animals are muddy and I am sick of having wet feet. Where are my frosty morning-turning into beautiful crisp winter days at??

Also, I have a scratchy throat and sitting inside looking at the rain makes you start feeling a little bit sorry for yourself. 3 weeks ago it was summer!

When I start feeling a bit under the weather I do everything I can to avoid taking cold & flu medicine...I have a super hippy dippy attitude towards stuff like that. Don't get me wrong, if it gets really bad I'll be popping pills all day but if I can stop it in it's tracks with a more natural remedy I am all for it.

Lemon honey & ginger hot drinks are ok, but I'm not a huge hot drink fan...smoothies are more my jam which is where this awesome cold fighting citrus green smoothie comes in! It's been way too long since I shared a green smoothie recipe with you - my favourite coconut green smoothie has become the most popular recipe on the blog so I figure you guys must be down for some greens in your smoothies too. Especially because at this time of year we are eating all the pasta & are probably skipping the veges in favour of comfort food because it's yucky outside and bikini bodies are not even on the radar yet. Am I right?

This smoothie has everything you need for a winter vitamin boost. Spinach, oranges, (from my Granny's tree!) lemons, ginger and pineapple. Plus an extra hit of vitamin C with my favourite cold pressed orange juice.

The key is blending the spinach and liquids really well first so that you don't end up with green lumps in your drink...not fun. Add in the fruit (try getting one frozen fruit in there to make it nice and cold) and ginger and blend up again until it's smooth.

Serve up immediately and feel the goodness! I don't know if it's all in my head but I instantly feel better after drinking one of these.

I love a green smoothie I've been off the bandwagon for a while but this is a good way to get back on. Thanks for sharing with YWF too.

Ooooh this is so tropical--I love it! It's a beautiful color, too. Whenever I make "green" smoothies, they for some reason turn out the color of mud, even when they tastes delicious. 😛

It was so bright green I couldn't believe it! Haha mine always go brown when I add berries but they still taste SO good!
