Baby Mac Update - 18 Weeks

Published: Jan 24, 2017 · Modified: Jun 5, 2021 by Laura · This post may contain affiliate links.

So I'm playing a bit of catch up here...I'm 23 weeks now, but we're just about caught up...this whole thing is going so fast! But here is the 18 week update for our little nugget!

    Baby Mac Update - 18 Weeks | thekiwicountrygirl.com

    How far along? 18 weeks

Bump size: Starting to look like an actual baby bump rather than a food baby. Baby is as big as a sweet potato, about 14.2 cm long and weighs about 190g...so tiny!

Weight gain? Not sure. We don’t own scales and I’m pretty happy about this at the moment. At this point, ignorance is bliss!

Boy or girl? Still not planning on finding out!

Cravings/aversions: My love for avocados has come back! YAY!!! Still not drinking much coffee – I just don’t really feel like it. Iced coffee on the other hand…yes please! And I have been eating so much summer fruit – berries, stone fruit…it’s a great time of year to be pregnant! The need for cheesy carbs has almost gone buuuut that doesn't mean I don't want them, and the same goes for juice...still a huge fan!

General feelings: Still feeling not really pregnant and having sudden moments of realisation that we are actually having a baby but it still hasn’t really sunk in yet I don't think. At this point we were definitely on the "we'll get through Christmas and then think about it" stage!

Looking forward to: Starting to plan the nursery and maybe even buying something for the baby!

Missing anything? Ohhhh yes, at this festive time of year I am seriously missing the beer and wine! Sparkling water for me...

Movement: YES! First movements that felt like little bubbles this week which quickly graduated into actual movements that we could see and that Josh could feel...yay! And oh my gosh it is so weird and exciting!

What I’ve been loving: Feeling movement...there is actually a baby in there! And everybody knows about it now which makes life a lot easier. Also, we got to hear the heartbeat which was so great...it's so speedy! About 150 BPM which seems scary fast but is apparently how fast it should be!

What I’ve not been loving: Still no complaints! I'm considering myself very lucky that I've had a good run so far and that the small amount of nausea I was feeling disappeared after 12 weeks.

Maternity clothes? Not quite. Lucky for me I usually opt for comfort anyway so majority of my clothes are on the stretchy size...perfect!

Back soon with the 22 week update!
