Hi, I’m Laura!
Thanks for stopping by!
This is my little corner of the world. I live on a farm in New Zealand and love everything about country life. I grew up on a farm and even though I moved into town to go to university I always knew I would end up back in the country. After all, you can take the girl out of the country, but you can’t take the country out of the girl! We live in a little house with our puppy Sage, pigs, chickens and a super-sized vege garden.
In case it wasn’t super obvious already, I love to cook, bake, write & take pictures! The blog started as a way for me to share our adventures living on the farm with our family…mostly my Mum. It has now morphed into a place that I share my favourite recipes, pictures I take and little bits of what happens around here.
I was bought up on simple home cooked meals and baking. and I think this is how it should be. I try to cut out processed and packaged foods wherever I can and use seasonal produce to make the move back to a more simple way of living and eating. I won’t claim to be the best cook, I’m just muddling my way through the kitchen, trying to be a good wife and learning as I go! I also have a major sweet tooth so there will be plenty of sweet treats!
I want everyone to see how easy it is to eat homemade and that even with a small kitchen, small budget or small garden, you can create amazing homemade meals & baking and even grow some of your own veges or keep chickens to collect your own fresh eggs! I’m all about keeping it simple too – quick, easy and tasty recipes are what I like. If it uses 1 pot and takes less than 30 minutes…even better!
I work full-time in the city I don’t have as much time as I would like to spend on my blog, but I do try to post 2-3 times per week which usually consist of recipes and random musings or fun farm stories about things that are happening on the farm or in my garden.
This is Josh.
He is my favourite person in the whole world and I am lucky enough to now call him my husband! We met when we were both living in the city, travelled overseas together and lived in London for a year before coming home and settling in a small farming community where Josh’s family lives. It is awesome!
He is the greatest person I know, builds epic chicken coops and even does the laundry. I totally hit the husband jackpot.
We got married in February 2016 – it was an amazing day and you can read all about it here!
We have a black lab puppy called Sage who is SO cute and totally mischievous. We love her and you can read all about her here
I love Friends and How I Met Your Mother – nothing is better than a rainy day on the couch watching re-runs over and over again!
Yellow is my favourite colour – my bridesmaids wore it at our wedding!
I am the oldest of 4 awesome siblings
We love to travel – Josh & I have been to over 25 countries and counting – you can read about our latest adventures here
I don’t like peanut butter on it’s own but am obsessed with it paired with other things…jam, chocolate, banana…you name it. Josh is the opposite!
I hope you enjoy reading, and feel free to contact me, I’d love to hear from you:
